On the 31 January Mark and his 2 sons went to High Wycombe and had to fight each other

Samurai's dan grading 23 November 2026

What a fantastic amount of women that turned out for this weekend's dan grading at the Samurai!

Amazing to see so many Kyu & Dan grades going up to 3rd dan. What an opportunity. Well done to all those who took part and got their points towards their next belt

There were exactly 100 entrants in all including 30 women. Highest male grades were 4th dan and highest female grades 3rd dan. We also had enough veteran men 1st kyus to run a separate sheet for them, which worked well. Dates next year are June 6 and November 7. If numbers continue at this level, we will look to increase to three a year for 2027, but we want to maintain the high turnouts for the benefit of the players.

It was a tough day for our fighters today at Worcester Judo Cub

Zains - Bronze. 2nd comp against more experienced players but gave it a really good go for bronze.

Finn - Bronze. He gave away a lot of weight in his category so had a tough day, he fought hard and was very unlucky not to get a win. His 2nd fight was 8.44min marathon.

Nick - Bronze. Has been working on a few new techniques so was trying them out today.

Phoebe - Bronze. A few years younger than her opponents so at a big disadvantage but she tried hard and had a smile on her face the whole time.

Izzy - Silver. Only just lost to the higher graded girl who took gold. She even won with a good foot sweep.

British Judo Referees are continuing to scale new heights this week as Lisa Rivers jets off to referee in the World Cadet Championships in Peru, whilst Stefan Newbury has been selected for the Junior European Championships in Estonia next month.

Amazing news for the team as they continue to referee alongside the world's best!
