The 2nd Cockburn Cup - Juniors Take Over

The competition held on the 25th September saw junior officials take over the show. Your hosts: Kate Walker (Junior Tournament Director) & Ben Newbury (Junior Referee In Charge) showed that junior officials have the know how and authority to take charge at an event.

Kate Walker - Tournament Director
Between the pair every aspect of the competition was arranged. Ben sorted out all the junior and senior refereeing teams and made sure that the mat ran smoothly and sorted out any problems. Kate made sure that all the entries were booked in, that the morning announcement was made, that the categories were divided fairly and that the sheets made their way to the table.
The pair certainly found out that competitions don't just run themselves and they take a lot of hard work!
Ben Newbury - Referee In Charge

Of course the work of two junior officials can't make a competition a success. You need a whole bunch of them!!! And thats exactly what we had at the Cockburn Cup. Shown right are the junior referee's who proved they have what it takes to referee a 3 Star Event. Excellent perfomances were seen from all our referee's and table officials. The refereeing of Amy & Lottie Millington, Alex Dowling and Kathryne Lowe, who passed their refereeing course in September, was particularly pleasing.

Shown below is the same photo setup..... but this time our juniors are showing just how much fun it is to be a junior official!!

Well done keeping them under control Ben!!!!!!!
